Support This Site & My Other Sites

I’m going to do things back to front here. I’ll put the support links at the top and then again at the end, because this will be a bit of a long page…

  • Make a donation via PayPal. This is the simplest most direct way to support my projects.
  • Go to my Ko-Fi page and donate the cost of a cup of coffee. Maybe even make it a monthly donation thing, that would be really really fantastic.

I run almost a dozen blogs and a few websites out of my own pocket. I also make projects and put instructive articles and videos on the relevant blogs. There are domain name renewal fees. There are server lease fees. There are – . . . Actually, those are all the fees for staying online. For the moment. If I wanted to promote the sites – that’d be another fee that I currently can’t afford. If I wanted to upgrade the server from dead slow to a useful speed and traffic capacity – that’d be one more.

And then there are subscriptions – oi!, are there subscriptions. . . I managed to get free access to a few sites that I regularly cruise for news into giving a free subscription, but the majority are tight bast-… are economically-oriented and won’t allow me a free pass.

Then too – when I go to make the things that I write up and give instructions etc for, guess who bears all the cost of parts and materials? (On a disability pension no less...) So often projects hang around as great ideas with drawings and models and lots of preparation, and then sit there like that for months or even years because I can only afford about $25 a month to buy stuff. I don’t have any other source of income.

I used to have a survey company that gave me about another $10 – $20 a month to spend on projects but either they’re tired of paying me (I was doing around 20 surveys a month and they often delayed payments until I grumbled) but I got a friend to create an account and they said there were no surveys whatsoever. As I said, that’s a great pity because it almost halves my discretionary money.

I’ve had several lovely people make one-off donations and they’ve allowed me to power on with a few projects, and showed me that if just a few people supported me, great things were possible. And I really enjoy making the projects, and because all of this is also working towards making designs for easy ultra-local recycling and similar projects, I’m hoping that with support I’ll have a few such things to contribute.

And that’s why this page exists. You can help directly, as in support my projects – or if you’d like to write an article that fits one of the blogs, or perhaps build one of the future projects I have planned and document it, or anything else really – contact details are just below.
